Pray for Me :)

Well, it begins again. This morning my landlady rang our bell unexpectedly, and entered with the maintenance supervisor for our apartment complex. Turns out ANOTHER one of our pipes (inside the wall) has sprung a leak, and is leaking into another person's apartment, and needs to be replaced. This happened in our bathroom just last September (see here). Turns out the construction company that built our complex used the cheapest pipes possible when building this place. My landlady told me today that she'd heard dozens of other apartments in this complex are having the same problems! She said she recommended to the management company that they track down the construction company, which they did and (not surprisingly) it doesn't exist anymore! So, the result is, they are estimating 5-7 days to repair this new leak--that means 5-7 days of near constant banging of sledge hammer on concrete, workmen in and out of our apartment, with the water turned off (during the day), etc. My plan is to take Sarah over to our neighbors the Greene's house so she can sleep and play in peace during the day, which means David will have to be here at home most of the time to oversee the repairs/make sure nothing gets broken or stolen, etc. We will survive, but its not going to be fun.

Anyway, I titled this post, "Pray for Me" because I really struggle to have a good attitude about things like this! I already majorly embarassed myself already today. When they started telling me about the problem and the 5-7 days of repairs, I got really angry. My landlady said, "Hopefully this won't affect you too much." I answered, "Affect me? Of course this is going to affect me!!!" They said they are going to have to move my washing machine to get to the wall to do the repairs, so I won't be able to use my washing machine for a week or so. They suggested I wash my clothes by hand during that time. I said, "I have never once in my whole life washed clothes by hand!! We Americans have always had washing machines! Even my mother's generation had washing machines! Even my mother never washes clothes by hand!" See what I mean about embarassing myself. I was seriously a jerk. Oh, SIN NATURE! Why do you always have to rear your ugly head!! Oh, how I need sanctification!! So, yes, pray for me. Pray I will have a good attitude, and possibly redeem the broken witness to my landlady and the maintenance man through kindness and humility these next few days. This is clearly not going to be easy. :)

It Was My Sneeze!

Last night, after a busy/slightly sleep-deprived day for our little one, we were sitting on the sofa about to put Sarah to bed. Then, David sneezed and sent Sarah into the most hysterical laughter we've seen from her so far! By the time we got out the video camera, her hysterics were dying down a bit, so David tried to help her keep it up by doing a deep exaggerated laugh and saying, "It was my sneeze!" in his best vampire voice. I love how she leans her head back to laugh--so adorable! Enjoy. :)

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day! We began the day by getting Sarah dressed up in this bright floral dress, perfect for the hot May day to come, and went to the International Fellowship here in our city.

We considered adding a hair bow/band accessory to her already adorable outfit, but she kept pulling it down over her eyes! Hilarious for David and I, but probably annoying for poor Sarah!

After the fellowship, we grabbed some McDonalds (I know what you're thinking--on Mother's Day? But its seriously a treat to eat something in Asia that tastes exactly the same as in the U.S.) We wanted something quick so we could move on to our next activity--swimming!

It doesn't often get hot enough here to swim outside, but on Sunday it was! So we joined some friends and headed to one of the few outdoor pools in our city. Since our apartment doesn't have air-conditioning, it was the perfect way to stay cool on a hot day! As you can see, Sarah still isn't a big fan of the cold water (this is her second time to experience the pool, see the first time here), but she was more tolerant of it, at least, this time--which allowed Mom and Dad to enjoy it VERY much!

After the pool, David and I had a wonderful evening-in of delivery Indian food (Butter Chicken=YUM!) and the most recent episode of Survivor. It was a perfect, relaxing fun day!!

Laughin in the Bath

Sarah is officially 3 months old tomorrow! This weekend she had a big milestone--she laughed for the first time! When we put her in the tub for her bath, she found the warm water hilarious!! This is a marked change from how she used to feel about the bath (see this video), but I digress. Here is a video of her bathtime laughter, although she only laughs once at the very beginning of the video.

This is a common problem I have with taking videos of Sarah--whatever cute behavior it is I am trying to capture, she stops doing it almost instantly when I start taping because she becomes mesmerized by the camera! I need to find someway to camouflage or disguise the video camera--like put it inside one of her stuffed animals or something! Another reason I didn't get more laughter on camera is that, as soon as we realized what was happening, David and I began arguing about who should go get the camera and who would get to stay in the bathroom and continue to enjoy the laughter! You can hear David bragging on the video that he got to hear it 3-4 more times while I was gone getting the camera. So I guess you know who won! Anyway, enjoy this sweet milestone. :) Oh, and if you can't get the above video to work, you can see it at our youtube page here.

Recent Photos

Just wanted to post a few recent pics of Sarah that are just too cute! She is growing like a weed, and we are loving every minute!
This hat is just too cute on Sarah, and did a great job keeping the sun off her face! Too bad it seems I have lost it now. At least I got this great pic of her wearing it!

Sarah's favorite thing: standing. She absolutely loves it!

Sarah "in the buff." Well, not quite but this is the internet so this is as close as we are willing to get. Something about a baby wearing just a diaper--cuter than all the expensive little baby clothes combined!!
